2025-2026 is a Ringette Canada rule change year. Shoulder pads are now required equipment for all athletes in divisions U19 and younger. Shoulder pads must be designed specifically for ringette or hockey, and must cover the entire shoulder area, including the collarbone, sternum, and shoulder blades. They must also have adequate padding and fit properly. Padded t-shirts are not an acceptable alternative to protective shoulder pads, as they do not provide sufficient coverage or cushioning. Watch for more information from Ringette Canada coming soon!
Equipment reminder: Lacrosse gloves are NOT acceptable to use for ringette. It is the responsibility of parents/guardians and team staff to ensure athletes wear the correct equipment or rules may be enforced at games.
We’re excited to share the official host cities for the 2026 Ringette Alberta Provincial Championships! From Edmonton to Airdrie, Leduc to St. Albert, our athletes will be competing across the province for the top spot in their division.

Families across Alberta can access several amazing programs designed to make sport more affordable and accessible. KidSport helps cover registration fees for youth sports, and many local chapters work directly with families to ensure kids can stay active, regardless of financial barriers. Through a partnership with KidSport, the Calgary Flames Sports Bank (also known as Comrie’s Sports Equipment Bank) provides gently used, good-quality gear, perfect for families needing help with equipment.
Another great option is Canadian Tire Jumpstart, which offers funding for children aged 4-18 to help cover the costs of organized sports. These programs work together to remove barriers and keep kids on the ice doing what they love.
Please speak to your Association's Registrar regarding your registration, and see the program websites for qualification requirements.
