Rally ‘Round the Rink Update

As many of our Fort McMurray families prepare to return to their community, we wanted to provide an update on the Rally ‘Round the Rink Campaign:

Equipment Donations

Both the Ringette Alberta and Ringette Calgary office have been taking in equipment donations. Thus far, we have had an extremely positive response in both offices.

The Ringette community has reached out from across the country and world to help and we incredibly grateful for this.

All available equipment is being listed on our website for easy communication. If you are a Fort McMurray family and looking for any equipment listed on the website, please contact us directly to schedule a pick up time.

Fort McMurray Ringette Equipment

Any equipment not used by Fort McMurray Ringette Association families will be donated to the Sport for the North Equipment Drive run by SportCentral and United Cycle. This way, the equipment will directly and indirectly benefit Ringette families in the Fort McMurray community. More information on this initiative is available here: http://www.unitedcycle.com/about/fort-mac-banners-pg1597.htm

Monetary Donations

Ringette Alberta has had a donation link up on our website since shortly after the Fort McMurray evacuation. Funds raised will be given directly to the Fort McMurray Ringette Association to help get itself and its members back into the rink.

Thus far, we have raised just over $4,100!

4 Ringette Associations (Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Central AB AA & CORA) & 6 families have contributed towards this fund and we are so grateful for their gifts. Ringette Alberta is also donating proceeds from our online store to the fund.

Funds will be delivered to Fort McMurray Ringette Association closer to the start of the 2016-17 season.

If you would like to donate, please visit our website and click the link on the right hand side: http://www.ringettealberta.com/

Thank you!

Overall, a big thank you to all of our Ringette community for helping to support these families in their time of need. We have had multiple offers of accommodations in addition to the equipment and money donated. Fort McMurray Ringette Association and all of their families are so thankful for the love and support offered to them during this difficult time.

We wish all families the best of luck as they prepare to begin their journey’s home.

Our Fort McMurray Ringette Families

The Ringette Alberta community is thinking of our Fort McMurray Ringette Association Families during this difficult time. We have compiled a few ways to help those displaced by the fires below:

If you have accommodations available and can take in displaced families, please visit this website: http://ymmfire.ca/

If you can donate, the Red Cross is accepting monetary donations here: https://donate.redcross.ca/ea-action/action…

OR you can text REDCROSS to 30333 to donate $5

Edmonton Emergency Relief Services has put out a call for donations and volunteers. Specifically, they are collecting diapers, baby wipes, NEW toiletries (such as soap, shampoo, tampons, toothpaste etc.) and NEW socks and underwear. Please don’t bring them random old stuff! Take your donations, NOT to the Expo Centre, but to the ERS offices, downtown at 10255 104th Street. They will distribute them where they are needed most. If you would like to volunteer, please call 780-428-4422. Nicole Geoffrey is the contact there and says that if you don’t get an answer right away, please leave a message, and they’ll get back to you.

Edmonton Expo Centre has been opened up for evacuees. More info here: http://www.northlands.com/fort-mcmurray-evacuees/

Ringette Alberta has offered any kind of assistance directly to our Ringette families. We will keep everyone posted if there are any direct ways our Ringette community can help.
