As of May 1, 2017, the National Coaching Association of Canada (NCCP) has streamlined the Making Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation to ONE evaluation that covers the 6-step process. Previously, there was a 5-step process for the Community Sport and a 6-step process for the Competition Introduction and Competition Development pathways. Coaches will now only be required to complete the classroom MED session, and one evaluation to cover all streams of coaching.
What does this mean for our Ringette Coaches?
New coaches to the Ringette, will now complete the evening session in-class MED, followed by the ONE Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation. This will be the only classroom and online evaluation you will have to complete in Ringette, and many of the other sports that have generalized their MED programs.
Coaches that took one of the MED evaluations, either MED-CSI or MED-CI, are now complete, there is no need to take another Make Ethical Decisions Evaluation.

Yes. The Make Ethical Decisions part of both the Community Sport and Competition Introduction stream has been removed for a generic evening course. This allows the Ringette specific courses to be shorter and reduce the amount of information duplicated in each section. The Make Ethical Decisions course will apply for multiple sports and does not expire. All new coaches to Ringette, regardless of level, will have to take the MED Classroom if they have not previously completed for another sport.
Yes. All coaches are required to take the Make Ethical Decisions evaluation in order to meet the certification requirements for their level. Following the Make Ethical Decisions Classroom session (please allow about a week for the credit to be awarded), you will be able to access the Make Ethical Decisions Online Evaluation, free of charge. In this evaluation you will be able to select the age most appropriate to your current coaching level to relate the questions to real-life examples.
Yes. All coaches must complete the MED and MED-Online Evaluation, before December 15 of the current playing season. Failure to complete the ethics module will make the coach ineligible to coach for the year.
