Making Ethical Decisions FAQ

We have been receiving a lot of questions with regards to the completion of the Make Ethical Decisions requirement.  This FAQ has been designed to answer these questions.

FAQ CONTENTS

Do I need to take the Make Ethical Decisions Classroom session?

Yes.  The Make Ethical Decisions part of both the Community Sport and Competition Introduction stream has been removed for a generic evening course. This allows the Ringette specific courses to be shorter and reduce the amount of information duplicated in each section. The Make Ethical Decisions course will apply for multiple sports and does not expire. All new coaches to Ringette, regardless of level, will have to take the MED Classroom if they have not previously completed for another sport.

Do I need to take the Make Ethical Decisions evaluation?

Yes.  All coaches are required to take the Make Ethical Decisions evaluation in order to meet the certification requirements for their level. Following the Make Ethical Decisions Classroom session (please allow about a week for the credit to be awarded), you will be able to access either stream of the MED Online Evaluation free of charge. Choose the appropriate stream – Community Sport for U12B, C and U10, or – Competition Introduction for U12A, U14, U16, U19.

Is there a deadline to complete my MED?

Yes.  All coaches must complete the MED in the appropriate stream; CSI or CI, before December 15 of the current playing season. Failure to complete the ethics module will make the coach ineligible to coach for the year.
