Fifteen Alberta teams from U16AA, U19AA, and National Ringette League (NRL) made the trip to London, Ont. for the 2016 Canadian Ringette Championships.
Of the 15 teams six competed in the U16, six in U19, and three in the NRL.
Games were exciting to watch and the tournament showcased some amazing competition between teams.
The bronze medal U19 game was a close back and forth game between Team Alberta and Ontario’s Nepean Ravens. Team Alberta’s Kristin Demale opened the scoring four minutes and fifty-five seconds into the game. She followed it up with a second goal twelve minutes and forty seconds in. Following her second goal, Nepean scored nine seconds later. Goals went back and forth until the end of the first period for a score of 3-2 at half time.
Nepean tied the game two minutes and forty-four seconds into the second period. MacKenzie Lindholm took the lead back with what turned out to be the winning goal at fourteen minutes and twenty-seven seconds into the second period. The final score was 6-3 for Team Alberta.
